Our Mission
Paradise Unleashed Guam strives to be the island’s leading resource for dogs and their guardians. PUG utilizes modern, scientifically-proven training methods with energy, whimsy, and ingenuity to enrich the bonds between humans and their companions while advocating for the ethical and humane treatment of dogs.
Maite Hollenbeck
Maite is a behavioral science enthusiast and an advocate for the humane treatment of animals; she proudly dedicates her spare time as a volunteer trainer for a local rescue. Her passion for animal welfare and relationship building inspired her to establish PUG, Guam's first and only provider of Force-Free, Positive Reinforcement Training. In 2021, Maite fell in love with and adopted her two foster boonies, Joni and Stevie. In an effort to better understand their needs, she has taught them to communicate using talking buttons. Their hilarious and poignant conversations are portrayed on social media's "Boonies in Paradise", and will leave you wondering "What would my dog say?".
Lena Leishman
Lena has lived in Guam for 5 years , working in the medical field. She adopted two boonies dogs and three boonies cats. Her love of animals lead her to working with H.E.A.R.T. (a local animal welfare non-profit organization) as well as learning more about animal behavior science and behavior adjustment with rescued boonie dogs. She now is excited to help the island pets become the best that they can be!
